Darrin “DJ Bird” Burgess Bio

Producer Darrin “DJ Bird” Burgess is hip-hop in its purest form. Born and raised in Hempstead, New York, he’s been a self-described hip hop historian since as far back as he can remember. It all started with the taping of radio mix shows from New York’s pioneer stations, WBLS and 98.7 KISS, and led to him collecting any and all types of hip hop memorabilia that he could get his hands on. By age of twelve he began to try to create his own beats by looping together the short instrumental portions of tapes so his group, PROFOUND, could rhyme over them. It wasn’t long before he would link with other, more established, local producer and learn how to operate and perfect beat machines such as the ASR 10 and the MPC 2000. Over the course of time he would go on to produce track for RZA, of the WU TANG CLAN and also supply tracks for SMITH BROTHER ENTERTAINMENT, the production camp responsible for child star “A+” and a solo effort by RAEKWON. What makes Bird’s tracks stand out amongst some of the best is his versatility and ability to soak up the pain and aggression of the “hood” and translate that through his music. Another key attribute is that, although his track contains his distinguishable signature, no two tracks sound exactly alike.

Once the world gets a full dose of his, seemingly, never-ending catalog of treats, Birds is to be one of the most sought after producers in the industry.
